The publication notes that according to the conclusions of NATO experts, ideally the Naval Forces of the Ukrainian Armed Forces should consist of submarines, frigates, corvettes, landing ships, and the like. However, in today's realities there is a need to build a small-tonnage “mosquito fleet”.
NATO believes that precisely such forces will be appropriate in the Sea of Azov, where it is not possible to transfer large Ukrainian warships.
“The path to building a fleet based on the “mosquito” has been taken by some countries in the Middle East and Asia, but we have other examples. In particular, in Turkey, Romania and Bulgaria, the “mosquito fleet” is only a component of the Navy. Frankly speaking, I like this option better,” said Vice Admiral Sergei Gaiduk, Advisor to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine.
