NATO expressed solidarity with Hungary on the Ukrainian issue
Ukraine and Hungary must find a mutually acceptable solution to restore recently damaged relations.
The head of the NATO mission in Ukraine, Dutch diplomat Alexander Vinnikov, stated this in an interview with the Kyiv online publication “Apostrophe”.
The publication asked how the issue of meetings of the Ukraine-NATO Commission (KUN), the holding of which was blocked by Hungary, will be resolved, demanding the repeal of the education law adopted in Kyiv, which infringes on the linguistic rights of national minorities.
“NATO is an organization that works on the principle of consensus. This means that all allies must agree to decisions, including those related to formats for meetings with partner countries at ministerial and head of state and government levels. As I said, we hope that it will be possible to resume high-level dialogue in the KUN format as soon as possible. We encourage our ally, Hungary, and Ukraine to continue bilateral dialogue to find a mutually acceptable solution that concerns the Ukrainian education law,” said the alliance representative.
