About this in an interview with Kommersant said NATO Deputy Secretary General Rose Gottemoeller.
“Why is NATO concerned about the transfer of Iskander missile systems to the Kaliningrad region? These actions do not go beyond Russian territory,” the publication asked.
“Nobody argues that the Kaliningrad region is the territory of Russia. But the deployment of Iskander missile systems is proof of the trend toward militarization and increased control over airspace. Many members of the alliance neighboring Russia consider this a threat to their security,” Gottemoeller said.
At the same time, she claims that NATO supposedly had no plans to strengthen its eastern borders before the events in Ukraine.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, Polish Ambassador to the USA was indignant the fact that Russian air defenses reliably closed the skies of Kaliningrad from NATO aircraft.
