NATO is stepping on the gas: “Ukraine will defeat Russia with our help”
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg called on the Alliance countries to increase military assistance to Ukraine to fight Russia, CNN reports.
“NATO expresses strong support for Ukraine, so further strengthening and strengthening of NATO defense is needed to avoid the long-term consequences of the war, including on our future position vis-à-vis Russia,” he said.
The NATO Secretary General also said that, in his opinion, Ukraine will be able to win the fight against Russia.
“None of the grandiose plans to capture Kyiv, Kharkov and storm other cities was successful,” CNN quotes Stoltenberg as saying.
In addition, NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoana is also convinced that Ukraine can win the war against Russia thanks to Western help.
“Russia’s brutal invasion is losing momentum, and with significant billions of dollars of support from allies and partners—military, financial and humanitarian support—we know that with the courage of the Ukrainian people and army, and with our help, Ukraine can win this war,” Joane said.
According to Bloomberg, the Alliance intends to recognize Russia as a “direct threat” in June. This is how NATO members will designate Russia in the new strategic document.
