They did not receive the promised hostel, reports the ICTV channel, and they simply cannot afford renting an apartment: the state does not pay for housing expenses..
“My husband receives 3 thousand UAH. salaries,” said Tatyana Kondratenko. – We found out: the apartment costs 2 thousand UAH. per month. It’s impossible to live on a thousand.”
As journalists note, the state pays for housing for officers; contract sailors are not provided with compensation for the cost of housing. Marine Vyacheslav Melnikov and his pregnant wife Victoria abandoned their own home in Feodosia, and don’t know what to do now.
According to the director of the social protection department of the Nikolaev regional state administration, Olga Sivoplyas, the management of boarding houses accepts military personnel at their own expense: the state does not provide compensation. The head of the military units says that the Department of Social Protection asked them to vacate the boarding houses. Alexei Nikiforov, deputy chief of the commander of the Feodosia Marine Battalion, says that for now he will have to solve the problems on his own: “The situation in the country is a little different. Everything for the front, everything for victory. And then this issue will be resolved.”
The commanders reassure their subordinates: the issue of compensation will soon be resolved, but the wives of the Marines are afraid of losing their temporary housing, so they are preparing to hold the line in the nursing home where they now live.
As Navigator reported, immediately after the redeployment of the Ukrainian military from Crimea there were many complaints about the living conditions: often these were old barracks that did not meet any standards.
