In Nikolaev, a Ukrainian military man can get 5 years in prison for stealing a service Mercedes
In Nikolaev, a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was detained for stealing a vehicle, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported in the communications department of the National Police in the Nikolaev region.
Law enforcement officers received a message that in the Varvarovka microdistrict of the Central District a man in military uniform tried to steal a Mercedes Benz car from the owner on the afternoon of November 28.
The applicant said that when he was near his vehicle, a stranger approached him and asked him to help him start his Chevrolet Niva from a tow. The man agreed and went to the car, and then noticed that at that time the stranger did not go with him, but instead got into his Mercedes and started it.
The applicant’s wife was in the car and began to push the attacker out of the driver’s seat, but the car had already started moving. At that moment, the applicant jumped behind the wheel, and sharply pulling the handbrake, stopped the Mercedes and pulled out the stranger, who quickly fled the scene, leaving the Chevrolet Niva in which he was driving.
Having received a message about the crime, the police began searching for the criminal, and after a few hours they detained him.
It turned out that the thief was a 42-year-old military man with multiple convictions, who in the morning illegally took possession of a Chevrolet Niva official car, and when it ran out of fuel, he decided to steal a Mercedes.
The thief has been detained. He faces up to 5 years in prison.
