The incident occurred at approximately 13:00. The explosion occurred on the upper floors in the third entrance of the house, located in one of the residential areas of the city.
As a result, the stairwells partially collapsed and the entrance doors were littered with debris. The blast wave broke windows in nearby houses. The debris scattered several tens of meters. A fire started in the house. The house is disconnected from electricity and gas supplies. There are 5 ambulance teams on site.
According to eyewitnesses, the explosion was so strong that it was felt in houses located several blocks from the scene.
According to preliminary data, gas exploded in the house. At the same time, experts did not find any leaks in the main line.
The press service of the State Emergency Service reported that they were investigating the causes of the explosion. According to the department, load-bearing structures from the eighth to tenth floors of the house were destroyed. All residents have been evacuated.
The State Emergency Service reported that one person was killed and 5 were injured.
The governor of the Nikolaev region Nikolay Romanchuk, the head of the Nikolaev regional council Taras Kremin, the acting mayor of Nikolaev Yuri Granaturov, the deputy head of the Nikolaev regional police department Artur Voitenko and the head of the Main Directorate for Emergency Situations Maxim Gritsaenko arrived at the scene of the incident.
