Prosecutor General of Ukraine Yuriy Lutsenko wrote about this on his Facebook.
“Tonight in Nikolaev the police and prosecutors detained red-handed members of a criminal organization, the leader of which is the deputy chairman of the Opposition Bloc faction of the Nikolaev City Council I.N. Kopeika. with the participation of his son M.I. Kopeyka, an assistant, and two heads of enterprises under his control in the housing and communal services sector,” Lutsenko wrote.
According to the Prosecutor General, this group systematically embezzled budget funds during 2016-2017. In December 2017, members of an organized crime group, trying to hide their criminal activities, were caught giving a bribe in the amount of 250 thousand hryvnia to a prosecutor’s office employee, who informed his management about this in advance. Currently, 5 members of the group are detained.
“Let them dream of a cartoon,” Yuriy Lutsenko ends his post with these words, thereby hinting at the involvement of the detainees in the well-known organized crime group “Multika.”
Let us recall, as PolitNavigator previously reported, the leader of this organized crime group, Mikhail Titov, known in Nikolaev as “Multik”, along with four accomplices, was detained by law enforcement officers in August 2017.
Then Yuriy Lutsenko said that the detainees were suspected of creating a criminal organization, which during 2008-2017 was engaged in threats of murder, imprisonment of people, racketeering, raiding, theft, embezzlement of property and public funds. At the same time, members of the organized crime group established control over the activities of political parties and influence on decision-making by officials of state authorities and local self-government, and maintained a stable hierarchical association in places of deprivation of liberty in the Nikolaev region.
