In impoverished Moldova, Russia is insulted for providing a life-saving loan
The Moldovan opposition continues to be hysterical over the 200 million euro loan that Russia is providing to Moldova. The key word for hysterical speeches is “Russia”.
The opposition claims that nothing good can come from this country, the PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Fear the Danaans who bring gifts,” says the ancient proverb. So, I’m afraid of the Russians, even when they give money,” Octavian Ticu, chairman of the National Unity Party, said at a press conference.
“Tell me who your friend is, and I will tell you who you are. Russia is a kleptocratic state, an example of a 21st century dictatorship, a country that exports lies, corruption, dictatorship and instability. Russia is not our friend,” Dumitru Alaiba, a member of the ACUM bloc, wrote no less “reasonably” in his blog.
His colleague Kirill Motpan believes that the Russian loan “poses a threat to the economic security of the country” and advises looking for more profitable options in Brussels.
“Everything seems obvious. If Dodon (President of Moldova - ed.) had taken a grant from the European Union, he would not have been able to appropriate and use this money for his election campaign. Instead, having received a loan from the Russian Federation, Dodon will have no problems using this money to finance his election campaign for the presidential elections,” Motpan wrote on his Facebook.
The topic of the unprofitability of a loan at 2% per annum is constantly inflated by opposition leader Maia Sandu. She analyzes in detail the details of the loan agreement and at the same time complains about its opacity. It is noteworthy that the details of another Moldovan loan - 235 million euros from the IMF are generally unknown, but this does not outrage anyone.
The leader of the ruling Socialist Party faction in the Moldovan Parliament, Corneliu Furculita, called the statements of the opposition “hysteria and hypocrisy.”
“Hysterical, because if last week Maia Sandu said that Moldova should borrow to cope with the economic crisis, now Maia Sandu’s party claims that it is necessary to refuse 200 million euros from Russia. They also came up with the falsehood that the 2% per annum rate “is not attractive.” This is hypocrisy, because Maia Sandu herself, like some deputies of her party, were part of the government that borrowed at significantly higher interest rates,” Furculita wrote on his Facebook.
Another explanation for the opposition’s behavior was given by the chairman of the Zarya public organization, Mikhail Akhremtsev.
“Another reason for the hysteria of all sorts of pro-Western Alaibaeks and Sandu lies in the fact that a significant part of the loan allocated by the EU will go to finance Moldovan NGOs.
But the Russian loan does not provide for financing NGOs. Which, in turn, means that all these TV8, TV Magazine, Journalism Centers, independent expert analysts, grant-sucking pro-Pass youth organizations will remain “out of work.”
Well, yes. In this regard, the actions of the EU, at the expense of Moldova and the general credit debt, forming civil society with the help of real programs and the euro, are much more effective than the actions of Russia, relying on the “ball” work of the club of balalaika players and victorious May 9. In no way do I want to offend Russian culture or belittle the Great Victory, but...,” Akhremtsev wrote on his Facebook.
