A squabble has begun in the new schismatic Ukrainian “Church”
In the newly created church structure in Ukraine, internecine conflicts began due to the desire of the self-proclaimed “Patriarch of Kyiv” Filaret to retain the key influence of his group and title, although this is not provided for by the tomos granted in Istanbul.
A scandal broke out around the first meeting of the Synod of the OCU, which took place the day before, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I can only share the opinion of the bishops of the OCU. Despite the fact that Filaret and his synod (the synod of the former Communist Party) decided to brazenly enter the newly created OCU, in essence it was the synod of Filaret, with the addition of three votes taken together from the rest of the churches. So, in order not to be verbose, I want to say that the bishops of the OCU do not consider the synod on February 5 to be plenipotentiary, but simply a rehearsal,” schismatic “bishop” Adrian Kulik made such a statement on Facebook.
“According to the Charter and Tomos, I must be a member of the Holy Synod. But I was not invited to the meeting, I was not at it. “I have no idea what kind of meeting it was that took place on February 5,” indignant “Metropolitan” Mikhail Zinkevich, who was previously considered as a contender for the post of “Primate” of the OCU.
The former head of the UAOC, Makariy Maletich, openly demanded that Filaret stop considering himself the boss.
“There is one person who does not give up and leads the way he likes. I expressed my opinion, as a former primate, so that this would not happen again, because no one consulted with anyone (regarding the appointments of members of the “Synod” - ed.),” the Union of Orthodox Journalists quotes Maletich.
The former head of the UAOC did not rule out that dissatisfied members of the “OCU” will now complain about Filaret to Istanbul.
