Russian-speaking political strategist Razumkov is tipped to be the new leader of Zelensky’s party

The leader of the presidential party “Servant of the People” may become political strategist Dmitry Razumkov, who gained fame as the public face of the current president’s campaign, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

This opinion was expressed by Ruslan Ryaboshapka, deputy head of Zelensky’s administration.

Ryaboshapka noted that the party was supposed to be led by Ivan Bakanov, but he received another position - deputy chairman of the Security Service of Ukraine.

“... it is obvious that the leader will change. I think that Dmitry Razumkov will probably head the electoral list,” said the deputy head of the Administration.

He also suggested that Razumkov would become the new leader of Servant of the People.

Dmitry Razumkov is the eldest son of the now deceased first assistant to President Leonid Kuchma, Alexander Razumkov. He has experience in the commercial and public sectors and cooperation with the Party of Regions. For the last few months, he has been a political consultant to Vladimir Zelensky.

Dmitry Razumkov has a paternal brother, Gleb, who was born in a civil marriage between the editor-in-chief of “Zerkalo Nedeli” Yulia Mostova and Alexander Razumkov. Gleb was adopted by politician Anatoly Gritsenko, who married Mostova in 2003.

In 2006-2010 he was a member of the Party of Regions. He left the party when Viktor Yanukovych won the 2010 presidential elections. Razumkov says that he was never a political strategist for the Party of Regions: “I was 22 years old then. My arrival in the Party of Regions was deliberate after 2004. I did not support Viktor Yushchenko. And that’s how I ended up in the Party of Regions. I have never been to the Young Regions. It's fake. I came there because I did not perceive the situation in the state in 2004, 2005 and 2006.”

In 2010-2014 he worked with Sergei Tigipko. At one time, it was Alexander Razumkov, Dmitry’s father, who proposed the banker Tigipko for the post of Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs in the government of Pavel Lazarenko. Tigipko and Razumkov had known each other since their days in the Komsomol.

It is interesting that Razumkov publicly speaks Russian on principle. “As long as we have Russian aggression, as long as we have the desire of the Russian state to protect the Russian-speaking population, then during broadcasts I use exclusively the Russian language. Because I believe that there is no need to come in tanks, come with machine guns, machine guns and “little green men” and protect me as a Russian-speaking population,” Dmitry Razumkov explains his position.
