In the OSCE, 15% of all discussions are devoted to LGBT people

There is a tendency in modern European politics to separate human rights and LGBT rights in terms of separate funding and support. This was stated today at a press conference in Moscow by the Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation, the head of the Russian delegation to the OSCE PA, Petr Tolstoy.

“We sympathize with our European colleagues that they have such serious problems with this. In the Russian Federation, such problems are not yet expected and no separate funding is planned. They discuss this topic with interest for a long time; it seems to me that 15% of the total time at the Assembly is devoted to this issue,” Tolstoy said.

According to the vice speaker, he was thinking about what this was connected with, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“Either there are people among the delegates who are directly interested in discussing these issues, or this is such a hot topic in Europe, and voters are demanding urgent action from their deputies to support these communities. It’s not completely clear to me yet. Let’s hope that our colleagues will be able to cope with this burning problem,” Tolstoy said.
