The OSCE does not know how to react to Putin’s proposal regarding a peacekeeping mission
The OSCE believes that making a decision regarding the introduction of a peacekeeping mission in Donbass is a complex process, because there is not yet a clear understanding of how exactly such a mission should be organized.

OSCE Secretary General Thomas Greminger stated this today at a briefing “The role of the OSCE and its activities in Ukraine and around it,” a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We are carefully monitoring all conversations that take place regarding the peacekeeping mission. Last night I had a very interesting discussion and exchange of views with President Poroshenko regarding the proposal to host such a mission. Obviously, such a mission must be agreed upon with the UN Security Council. If we consider the various schemes and proposals that have been made, we can come to the understanding that there is no clear understanding yet. The process of making such a decision will not be easy. The OSCE is ready for consultations and is ready to provide its knowledge and expert skills. We have three years of experience in this area. It is clear that if the decision is made, there must be a clear delineation of tasks between the UN peacekeeping mission and the work of the OSCE mission, in particular, so that positive results can be obtained in influencing events and circumstances. I would like to add that the only path to a peaceful settlement is the full implementation of the Minsk agreements,” said the OSCE Secretary General.
