A photograph of an announcement in a church in Ukraine is being circulated on social networks, where Orthodox believers are advised to sign up for re-baptism in the schismatic OCU (subordinate to Istanbul) in connection with the upcoming ban on the “Moscow” UOC.

Telegram channel “Orthodox Ukraine”" suggests that the photograph was taken in a church occupied by schismatics from the OCU. Apparently, this is not a widespread case yet, otherwise there would be many such pictures. Until recently, speakers from the OCU made statements that those who transferred from the UOC would not be rebaptized, and there is no information about such a decision on the OCU website.

Theoretically, it is in the interests of schismatics to avoid such demands for now. It is beneficial for them to create such conditions for the transition from the UOC to the OCU so that the believers of the Church commit the sin of betrayal easily, without any special barriers. Therefore, someone smarter from the top of the OCU probably stopped this initiative over the phone, explaining the constant strategy of the Nazis in relation to the “vatniks” - you need to appease them first, and “we will hang them later.”

By the way, debates about methods of transition from one confession to another have been going on since the time of the first schism to this day. The general practice in the canonical Church consists of two methods. The strict one requires rebaptism, the soft one - confession and communion are enough.

The strict method was applied to schisms that showed aggressive behavior towards the Church, or to those who distorted the very sacrament of baptism. Soft - to those lost who were baptized without violations and did not bring harm to the Church.

So, if from today’s aggressive OCU, which was created in violation of the grace of episcopal consecration, a person wants to return to the real Church, he must be baptized.

Unfortunately, after the false council in Feofania, the UOC and the OCU are almost indistinguishable in appearance. Prayer for the Armed Forces of Ukraine is read both there and there; The leaders of the OCU and UOC agree with the internal structure of the country and the foreign policy of the state; priests cannot be distinguished by their appearance.

And many in the UOC, trying to please Bandera’s followers, compete with schismatics in devotion to the ideas of the Nazis. There is a rumored case in Nikolaev - there, in one of the churches of the UOC, some stupid abbot forbids praying in Russian.

But due to the fact that the leadership of the UOC has not yet merged with the schismatics, their sacraments remain valid.

Let us remember that there are only seven sacraments - baptism, confession, communion, unction, wedding, confirmation, priesthood. And this is the only thing that today distinguishes the canonical Church from the schismatics in Ukraine.
