In Odessa, three police captains were detained, who are suspected of having stolen 120 thousand US dollars by falsifying criminal proceedings, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

According to the report, three 29-year-old law enforcement officers - two senior investigators and the deputy head of the investigative department of the Odessa police - planned an attack on collectors and the seizure of money.
The police said that their colleagues registered a statement of a fictitious person about the fraud committed. The complainant was allegedly defrauded of money by persons traveling in a collection vehicle.
Based on this falsified information, police investigators began criminal proceedings, which noted that collectors were also involved in the sale of firearms, the National Police reported.
According to the police, after receiving a warrant to search the car, the police, with the involvement of special forces, stopped the collectors. During the “search,” law enforcement officers planted a bag with weapons in their car, and stole two bags with 120 thousand US dollars.
The investigators were detained, searches were carried out in their offices and at their place of residence.
The detainees were declared under suspicion under Part 2 of Article 366 (official forgery), Part 2 of Article 364 (abuse of power or official position) and Part 4 of Article 187 (robbery) of the Criminal Code.
The sanction of the most severe of these three articles provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a term of up to 15 years with confiscation of property.
