Together with volunteers, they independently repaired an abandoned military unit in the village of Zhovtnevoye and now sleep not on the gym floor, as before, but on normal beds, writes Industrialka.

Recently, volunteers helped sailors renovate several dormitories in Odessa and the region, but the issue of housing for Crimean families still remains problematic.

According to the volunteers who took patronage over the Crimean sailors, if previously they huddled in cramped quarters in floating dormitories and dilapidated barracks, now they were allocated and allowed to restore some buildings themselves.

As the sailors say, at the beginning of last summer the authorities allegedly promised to allocate land plots to build a house and run a household, but no one has received the land yet. The wives and children of sailors are forced to wander around rented apartments.

The Navy press center confirmed to us that the dormitories for Crimean sailors are indeed being renovated, but the housing issue still remains open. “We haven’t received a single apartment in a year, but now the priority is for the families of military personnel who died in the combat zone,” explained the head of the press center, Oleg Chubuk. At the same time, the press secretary of the regional state administration, Nikolai Pokrovsky, assured: “All Crimean sailors have been provided with apartments and dormitories.”
