No, fortunately, this time they did not burn anything and did not kill anyone, contrary to their pogrom manner. All they did was disrupt, under the pretext of fighting separatism, a completely innocent, and moreover, important event for the culture of the city. Just listen, and once again feel the abomination of desolation that reigns in these rotten little peasant souls!
Yesterday, with the pride of dwarfs who spat on a giant’s foot, these figures pompously spread the news that a creative meeting scheduled for today at the Regional Scientific Library named after. Grushevsky with local historian Oleg Gubar will not take place. Moreover, because of threats and denunciations made by a group of “patriotic activists” of a certain public organization “Ukrainian Lustration”. Because this insidious Gubar is a “lover of the Russian world”, and in general, a typical enemy of Ukraine. Moreover, there may be children there for whom the influence of such a terrible person is dangerous! After all, he, the bad guy, said something bad in his interviews with the fierce separatists from Crimea and Donbass about nationalist children’s training camps in Odessa, and even “attached” some concentration camps to pure and innocent Banderaites!
So the library administration decided to forcefully cancel this meeting, which it had previously initiated. Because the “patriots” threatened her with an appeal to higher authorities, and with other “actions” characteristic of this insolent public. Please note, I canceled it, apologizing ten times to the most popular author of wonderful books about our city. And he is not offended by them, knowing full well where he lives now. But more on that later...
So, you ask, is there really a fierce “Racist propagandist” living in Odessa, who in the morning has breakfast with Ukrainian babies while the evil babble of a balalaika is unbearable for Nenki’s patriots, and in the evenings he offers blasphemous prayers accompanied by an accordion and squatting to the evil god of the separatists, the monstrous Pu ?! – Is that why he is dangerous for the independent deanery of truly generous Odessa?
-No, dear citizens, everything is much sadder and more dangerous for them!
The thing is that Oleg Iosifovich Gubar, whose 65th birthday is just the other day. November 16, noted the whole real Odessa, where it is much worse for the shobla of the Maidan small-town mental runts. After all, all his life he has been studying the history of our city, moreover, based on the study of rare archival and library sources. And almost 20 of his books are devoted mainly to the first years and decades of Southern Palmyra. I note that many of them have already become classics of historical local history, entering international circulation as the unshakable foundations of the study of the past of Odessa. Yes, his fundamental monograph on the history of urban planning of the City alone is worthy of a doctorate! Not to mention essays depicting the realities of Pushkin’s time or brilliant literary and absolutely reliable biographical portraits of people of the brilliant era of the Duke de Richelieu, Vorontsov and their successors...
And from all this mass of meaningful factual evidence, subjected to professional analysis, a reasonable reader, willy-nilly, emerges with conclusions that are not at all imposed by the author. And that the very emergence and flourishing of a truly European city is the fruit of the natural development and expansion of the Russian Empire, and that the “golden and silver” periods of the history of Odessa - from the beginning of the XNUMXth to the first decade of the XNUMXth centuries - are inextricably linked with it, hated by the current maydauns of the Bandera persuasion! Moreover, without idealizing those times at all, and, moreover, describing the dark pages of our history in the style of Jewish pogroms, Gubar often refutes common myths about the “eternal national tolerance” of our city. But he does this without any politicization, objectively showing the economic and social reasons for past excesses.
And also, uncompromisingly and with his characteristic caustic irony, he refutes baseless myths of a custom nature. In the style of the idiotic thesis about the “600-year history of Kotsyubiev”, a dubious town in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania that supposedly marked the beginning of present-day Odessa, which was accepted right on the parliamentary tribune. And - he reasonably asks, why not then start counting from ancient settlements, or - the medieval Italian colony of Ginestra, which were here much earlier, but have sunk into oblivion? Or are the Greeks and Italians somehow worse than the Lithuanians?!
In addition, as an indispensable participant in meetings of the historical and toponymic commission at the City Council. Oleg Iosifovich opposes the senseless and merciless renaming of Odessa streets for the sake of momentary politics, defending traditions and common sense.
In a word, at the forefront of this man, who became its Honorary Citizen due to the sum of his services to Odessa, is, first of all, love for the true history of our city and the desire to preserve its eternal heritage. Add to this his civic position, the position of the son of a brave military officer of the Great Patriotic War, who sacredly honors the memory of the fighters against Nazism. And - the position of a convinced humanist and anti-fascist, who did not bow to the murderers and usurpers of May 2, who every time comes out with flowers on the next anniversary of the Odessa Khatyn on Kulikovo Field, to the House of Trade Unions. No, how can such an enemy be tolerated by the offspring of half-baked Banderaites and born mediocre liars, for whom the truth is worse than Russian horseradish and radishes?!
So the gentlemen’s “lustrators” resort, declaring their goal to eradicate the “damned Soviet past” to... the worst methods of that very time, when their current idols-pasmennyki Pavlychko, Drach and Yavorivsky, who had not yet been repainted in yellow-blaky colors, wrote false denunciations to the party and the KGB authorities against the “bourgeois nationalist” - the Ukrainian dissident poet Vasyl Stus and the “accomplice of Zionism” - the Russian front-line writer, native Kiev resident Viktor Nekrasov. They sent one to the camps that killed him, the other to forced emigration... Times have changed, but the eternal tendency has remained in all its ugliness: selfish mediocrity strives to slander and expose talents to harm. How they killed Oles Buzina. How the outstanding historian Academician Pyotr Tolochko is being persecuted. They, barren and corrupt, cannot bear the truth that is defended by people endowed with the gift of God. And therefore, for the sake of their petty goals, they resort to outright lies and meanness.
So this time, gentlemen, the “activists” simply lied! In a personal conversation with Oleg Gubar, I reasonably asked what kind of neo-Nazi children’s training camps in Odessa, as well as concentration camps, he spoke about in his interviews. And it turned out: Oleg Iosifovich just mentioned there the outrageous fact of the distribution on the streets of Odessa of a newspaper of the neo-Nazi group “Azov”, in which camps were advertised for training the children of the growing group of pogromists and punitive forces. Note, camps located somewhere on the shore of the Sea of Azov, and not in Odessa at all! The concentration camps in our city are the purebred fruit of the diseased brain of the authors of the slander!
So believe these figures!
No, Gubar is not at all stunned by the cancellation of his performance. And he doesn’t harbor any grudges against the library staff, realizing that they, like government employees, are between a rock and a hard place. He has no time for that, he is working on another book - a guide to Pushkin's Odessa!
And he has already given the city wonderful works that are included in the golden fund of Odessa, and an amazing phenomenon of his personality. A true Odessa citizen, who selflessly serves his homeland, his City all his life, not out of fear, but for the sake of conscience and truth. And what will be left of his informer adversaries except stench and bad reputations?! Rhetorical question!
