In Odessa, judges are avoiding consideration of the “May 2 Case” about the tragedy in the House of Trade Unions

Odessa, December 04 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – The Court of Appeal of the Odessa Region did not accept the refusal of the judges of the Primorsky Court of Odessa to consider the case of the involvement of activists of the Kulikovo Pole movement in the May 2 tragedy in the House of Trade Unions.

The district court judges argued their inability to judge the participants in the May 2 events due to insufficient qualifications. Since today’s decision of the appellate court is not subject to appeal, in the event of a second appeal, the Primorsky Court will have to indicate a different reason for recusal, reports the Timer publication.

As PolitNavigator reported, it was decided not to hold the last meeting of the district court due to the failure of some of the defendants to appear. However, the prosecution's requests to extend the period of detention for the arrested activists were granted. According to the lawyers, if the judge decided that he could not consider the case, then, in theory, he should not have made a decision on preventive measures. Yesterday it became known that the district court judges are trying to transfer the case to the appeal.
