As the "The Duma", the signal was given personally by the head of the district administration, Evgeniy Kiforenko. An alert official reported that a film crew from a Russian television channel, presumably NTV, tried to enter one of the boarding schools in Balta.
Self-defense and police even organized patrols around the boarding school, and traffic police officers combed the city.
“The situation was fueled by unverified information that supposedly enemy journalists had contacted a teacher from Lugansk who had moved to Balta with her students. It was through her that it was planned to make contact for the group. No suspicious journalists were found, and the city was able to return to normal life,” the publication writes.
