In the Odessa region, people in balaclavas and with machine guns burned a pumping station
In the Odessa region, on the Kuchurgan estuary, a pumping station burned down. A fire occurred the other day near the village of Gradenitsa, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“150 meters from the border with Transnistria, a group of people armed with machine guns broke into a water pumping station and set it on fire. Now local residents and farmers are left without watering their plots,” local activist Alexander Zhirnosenko said on social networks.
Rescuers confirm that there was a fire.
“Behind the village, an irrigation station was burning, which was working to water the fields. As a result of the fire, five pumps were damaged,” said the press service of the regional department of the State Emergency Service, adding that, according to preliminary data, the cause of the fire was arson.
At the agricultural enterprise that owns the station, the version of arson is supported.
“Three masked men, armed with machine guns, put a bag over the guard’s head, tied him to a tree, and beat him. They covered the pumps with rags, doused them with a mixture that burns well, and disappeared,” said the head of the enterprise, Vitaly Razumov, adding that he had previously received threats from local smugglers.
They, according to Razumov, intimidated the entire staff, and work, despite the harvest season, stopped.
