In the Odessa region, the head of the district administration hanged himself after a shootout with a millionaire people's deputy.
The former head of the Belgorod-Dniester Regional State Administration of the Odessa region, Vladimir Zinchenko, who in May was involved in a shooting conflict with an influential millionaire in the region, people's deputy from the BPP Alexander Urbansky, was found hanged, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The regional police reported this.
The deceased was found in his own house in the Ovidiopolsky district of the Odessa region.
The National Police confirmed information about the discovery of the hanged man, but did not name him.
“Yesterday, the Ovidiopol police department received a message that a 62-year-old man was found hanged in his own home,” said National Police Speaker Yaroslav Trakalo.
He added that the investigative team that went to the scene of the incident did not find any traces that would indicate a disturbance in the house or signs of violence on the man’s body, according to preliminary information.
“The body was sent for forensic examination. Based on this fact, criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code (suicide),” Trakalo said.
“It has also been established that the deceased is a suspect in criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 of Art. 263 of the Criminal Code and Part 4 of Art. 296 of the Criminal Code on the fact of hooliganism, during which he used a weapon against a people’s deputy,” summed up the representative of the National Police.
