“The only source of power in any country is the people. A president who has completely lost the trust of his people, who has de facto lost his presidential powers and, moreover, fled his country, cannot be legitimate,” Kommersant quotes a statement from the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry.

In Bishkek, they believe that the current crisis was caused by “ill-considered actions and corruption of the former authorities of Ukraine.” The Central Asian republic stands for resolving the situation “by peaceful means, through negotiations and dialogue, with unconditional compliance with the norms of international law and the UN Charter.”

At the same time, the Kyrgyz news site kloop.kg writes that the country’s authorities “practically recognized the new Ukrainian government.” “The statements by the Kyrgyz Foreign Ministry can be described as unexpected - for almost two weeks the authorities did not make any statements on the situation in Ukraine,” explains the head of the resource, Bektur Iskender. “In addition, this message runs counter to the position of Russia, which is considered one of Kyrgyzstan’s main partners.”
