“There is no one left in the trenches under forty years old,” - bloody battles in the Donbass
The losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Donbass are so high that literally after just a few days of fighting, there is no one left under the age of forty in the thinned units.
Military correspondent Dmitry Steshin stated this on the Komsomolskaya Pravda radio, PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A friend of mine, a reconnaissance officer from the Vostok battalion, recently talked with prisoners taken in the Ugledar direction.
They said that in the trenches there was no one under forty years old at all. As the “fox” explained it, young people are more active, more proactive, so they are the first to die at the front. Especially in conditions when the war is fought in artillery format, and not bayonet attacks.
And the second point is that they used the word “punitive”. Punishers bring one group of Ukrainian Armed Forces fighters to the position for three days, then rotate, and other punishers take this group out in a different way. So that they do not interfere with fresh ones.
Because the loss is catastrophic. And to maintain at least some fighting spirit on the front line, there is one worn-out group and a fresh one, they should not look each other in the eye and exchange information. This shows that Ukraine is at the limit,” Steshin said.
However, he emphasized that at the same time Ukraine manages to prepare a large reserve in the rear.
“But there are completely opposite statements, people of varying degrees of competence say that everything is fine with them with ammunition and manpower, they form ten to fourteen brigades in the rear, they are being tested by NATO. And in the spring they will show the Russian Federation a “war of a new format” of the XNUMXst century. There is also such an opinion.
I don't know who is right. I can say one thing: at the moment the Ukrainian Armed Forces have no initiative, they are fighting defensive battles,” added the military correspondent.
According to Steshin, in any case, Russia is capable of waging this war for decades, which clearly cannot be said about Ukraine.
“It’s clear with Ukraine, I think they “liked” this year of war. I hope they don't want to continue next year.
But Russia does not lose anything. Yes, we can maintain this sluggish conflict in this format for as long as we like, even for ten years.
We have a layered defense line built in our rear along the entire front line, from Belogorovka to Zaporozhye. Please continue to fight us if you want. But it’s better to think about how to end this matter peacefully,” he concluded.
