This was reported by the UN News Center.
It is indicated that during the nine-day visit he will meet with representatives of the government, civil society and displaced families.
The Special Rapporteur will assess the current situation of internally displaced persons in the country and discuss progress in implementing recommendations for improvement that he presented following his previous visit in 2014.
“During the upcoming visit, I intend to assess the progress made in protecting and assisting internally displaced persons, as well as consult on current challenges and opportunities,” Chaloka Beyani said.
He recalled his previous visit to the country and the report prepared after its completion.
“I am very closely monitoring the condition of internally displaced persons in Ukraine, who continue to face difficulties in realizing their rights, including social assistance, freedom of movement, housing and employment,” the UN special rapporteur emphasized.
The UN representative believes that the problems of displaced people, if they do not have the opportunity to return to their homes, should be solved by integrating them into local communities or relocating to other areas.
Let us remind you that according to Ukrainian official statistics, the Ministry of Social Policy registered 1,788 million internal refugees.
