The UN complains: Zelensky freaks out when he hears about his cocaine addiction
Russian information specialists are allegedly spreading “fakes about cocaine addiction” of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky in order to “shatter his mental stability.”
This was stated by the CEO of Jigsaw (formerly Google Ideas), a senior fellow at the American Council on Foreign Relations, Jared Cohen, during a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Ukraine, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“Deepfakes regarding President Zelensky’s addiction to cocaine are one example. This aggression aimed to undermine the mental stability of President Zelensky and gain public support for Russia.
Another example is the numerous campaigns to create a feeling of hostility towards Ukrainian refugees in Europe. Misinformation is spreading on social media regarding crimes that refugees allegedly commit or preferential treatment that refugees receive compared to nationals.
This strategy goes beyond the borders of Ukraine, it is aimed at the grassroots in order to divert public attention from the tasks of Ukrainian defense. As an example - Poland. Ukrainian refugees live in Polish apartments. There are a lot of disinformation campaigns where women are called to protect, that refugees supposedly pose a danger to men, and so on,” Cohen wrote.
He emphasized that “information wars have penetrated into the homes of ordinary people around the world.”
“Authoritarian regimes are creating an advanced strategy to confuse digital contacts and communications and take control of the narrative. A difficult case involves a “quick check” for Ukrainian statements that were never actually made. Efforts are being made to portray Ukrainians as liars and to divert public support in favor of Russia,” the speaker said.
