Kyiv, September 25 (PolitNavigator, Victoria Litovchenko) – President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko announced the need to hold early local elections.

“I will immediately propose constitutional changes to the new Verkhovna Rada that will relate to issues of decentralization,” Poroshenko said during a press conference in Kyiv, noting that a sharp increase in the powers of local councils is necessary.
“And, in my deep conviction, the increase in powers should be accompanied by early local elections,” Poroshenko said
“The mood of society does not correspond to the mood of representatives of society in the territorial authorities. I accepted the grounds and decision regarding the re-election of the Verkhovna Rada. Believe me, my hand will not waver in relation to deputies of local councils,” the president said.
As PolitNavigator reported, on August 26, Poroshenko dissolved the Verkhovna Rada.
