“Pro-Russian activists” are to blame for Oganesyan’s resignation – source in United Russia
Moscow - Simferopol, January 30 (PolitNavigator, Mikhail Stamm) - The resignation of Viktor Oganesyan was initiated by “pro-Russian activists”, reported "Kommersant" source in the regional branch of United Russia. It must be assumed that the Sevastopol United Russia party itself, as well as the party as a whole, are “pro-Russian”.

A Kommersant source close to the leadership of the regional branch said that “people from movements that sought the annexation of Sevastopol to the Russian Federation came to the party leaders and reminded that Viktor Oganesyan led a gymnasium in Ukrainian times and took an open pro-Ukrainian position. He also supported all the governors who were sent to Sevastopol from Kyiv,” said the publication’s interlocutor.
But Oganesyan’s resignation should not upset “anti-Russian activists” from United Russia. As the newspaper recalls, simultaneously with this sad event, Moscow pushed through the decision to increase the size of the political council of the Sevastopol United Russia, which will lead to the “erosion” of Alexei Chaly’s supporters, thereby depriving him of the opportunity to control the branch.
Yesterday, only senator from the legislative assembly Olga Timofeeva and deputy Tatyana Shcherbakova spoke out against expanding the size of the political council. According to one of the conference participants, the senator said that “the situation is unhealthy not only at the city level, but also at the country as a whole,” therefore she proposed voting only for increasing the size of the political council, without approving the personalities. The initiative was not supported.
In general, “United Russia” can be congratulated: the Sevastopol anomaly, in which the regional branch of the ruling party is headed not by a weathervane bureaucrat, but by a person with ideals, has almost been corrected.
Thank you!
