In Putin's absence, Russia will bewitch Paris with its art

Despite the fact that Russian President Vladimir Putin's visit to Paris has been cancelled, the French press will have to write about Russia in a positive way, since two significant cultural events will be held here. Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy stated this today, speaking at the Federation Council.

“Even though there will be no visit, the world congress of the Russian-language press opens in Paris on the 19th at the venues of UNESCO and our Spiritual Center. On the 19th and 20th, an unprecedented exhibition from the collection of Sergei Shchukin will open in Paris. For the first time, parts of the collection from the Hermitage and the Pushkin Museum will be combined in the Louis Vuitton Museum. I assure you, the response in the press will be very positive. They won’t be able to give this exhibition a bad rating,” Shvydkoy said.

He recalled that in 2010, left-wing French newspapers urged readers not to go to events of the Days of Russian Culture in France, because “the magic of Russian art will make you forget about all the problems that exist in our relations.”
