Ukraine in response to the approved in the LDPR doctrine "Russian Donbass" is trying to spread false historical myths about Donbass as the land of “Bandera’s military glory.”

One of the authors of the doctrine, professor of Donetsk National University Vyacheslav Terkulov, stated this during the “Good Russian People” meeting in Moscow, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.

“I saw Ukraine’s reaction to the Russian Donbass doctrine. First of all, oddly enough, they try to build a kind of historical discourse that seems to refute the main provisions of the doctrine.

There is a phrase there that four hundred years ago there were Ukrainians there. True, they call these “outposts” - posts of the Zaporozhye Cossacks. There, however, there is a problem with determining nationality, because if the Cossacks were told four hundred years ago that they were Ukrainians, they would have been very surprised. Because four hundred years ago “Ukraine” was the name given to the territory of Poland, the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth – Ukraine Pospolita, Russian lands on the border of Poland.

But the funniest thing was the remark about the fact that during the Great Patriotic War, OUN-UPA partisan detachments fought on the territory of Donbass. Moreover, the Young Guard, it turns out, is also a detachment of the OUN-UPA, they were also Ukrainian nationalists, which they themselves probably did not even suspect!

A counter-struggle is beginning, but so far it is very unconvincing,” Terkulov described the efforts of Ukrainian propaganda.

He explained why Kiev reacted so painfully to the emergence of the “Russian Donbass” doctrine - its addressee is, first of all, not the current defenders of the LDPR’s borders, but the new generation of residents of Donetsk and Lugansk.

“They are trying to refute the historical milestones that were in the doctrine. And if they try to refute it, then it’s important. So, I want to fight this. For the current soldier, this doctrine is unlikely to help. But it will help form new generations, because we are now at a crossroads,” the professor said

Forced to leave Kyiv in 2014 and move to Moscow, journalist Alexander Chalenko expressed confidence that the Ukrainian campaign against the “Russian Donbass” doctrine was doomed to failure.

“I lived in Kyiv for 29 years, I know the local intellectual class very well, and I don’t believe that anything will be formulated there that could oppose the “Russian Donbass” doctrine,” Chalenko said.
