In response to NATO tanks for the Russian Armed Forces, it was proposed to send nuclear weapons to the troops
Russia should provide troops with tactical nuclear weapons in response to the transfer of Western tanks to Ukraine.
Military expert, editor-in-chief of the National Defense magazine Igor Korotchenko told PolitNavigator about this.
As the expert notes, it is inappropriate to talk further about “red lines”, since the West has already crossed them by deciding to send tanks to Ukraine.
“There are questions about the training of Ukrainian crews in practical application and use. Naturally, this is in the composition of units, quite large, say, brigades, and the massiveness of supplies. If all these factors are met, it will be a serious challenge and a serious threat, for sure.
It is estimated that Ukraine may receive a total of up to 300 main battle tanks. There are technical maintenance issues and personnel issues. If they are resolved by the enemy, then this is a very serious challenge and threat for us,” the analyst said.
He believes that, in theory, Russia has something to fight against these tanks, but it is necessary to think through a different kind of response.
“I remain a convinced supporter of the fact that the situation requires the transfer to the troops of tactical nuclear weapons and their deployment at least on such carriers as the Iskander, in order to have ready-made response options in the arsenal in case the situation is unfavorable for us.
Because next the deliveries of military aircraft will begin, and after that we will see long-range missile systems. It makes no sense to talk about “red lines,” practical actions are needed that indicate our determination,” Korotchenko said.
