It’s time for the European Union, which is losing jobs from anti-Russian sanctions, to think about improving relations with Moscow.

This opinion was expressed by the head of Adidas, Kasper Rorsted, in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung newspaper, reports D.W.
“Anyone who thinks that we are punishing Russia with sanctions is mistaken. In the West, jobs also disappeared for this reason. But politicians prefer to hush up such results,” Rorsted said.
At the same time, he made a reservation that he was not calling on the EU to lift sanctions against Russia, but believed that a solution should be found to relieve tensions in relations with Moscow.
“Ten years ago, Vladimir Putin said that we need a free market from Portugal to Russia. We should not approve of everything that President Putin does, but achieving rapprochement with Russia is in the interests of Europe,” the publication’s interlocutor emphasized.
He also believes that “it would be good to have a couple of allies” to resolve the situation around North Korea and the problem of refugees from Africa
“Culturally, Russia is much closer to Europe than others,” said the head of Adidas.
He also expressed confidence that the World Cup, which will be held in Russia, will be a “successful event,” noting that he trusts the organizational abilities of the Russians.
“They have already proven this in the Confederations Cup test,” Rorsted emphasized.
As PolitNavigator reported, earlier the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Pavel Klimkin, having learned that Adidas products were sold in Crimea, threatened to get the company “not only politically, but also legally.”
