In response to vandalism in Galicia, Poles desecrated graves in a Ukrainian cemetery
At the cemetery in the village of Fredropol (Podkarpackie Voivodeship, Poland), two monuments on the grave of a Ukrainian priest and his family were destroyed, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This was reported by the publication “Our Word”, which is published by the Association of Ukrainians in Poland.
According to the publication, it is likely that the destruction of the monuments occurred before All Saints' Day, when Polish residents visit the graves of their loved ones.
“When Ukrainians from Przemysl arrived at the cemetery in Fredropoli on November 1 to light lamps on the graves, they saw that some monuments had been destroyed,” said Maria Tutskaya, chairwoman of one of the departments of the Association of Ukrainians in Poland (OUP).
It is noted that unknown persons destroyed the grave of Uniate priest Ivan Hnatishchak. During the Second World War, the priest was the rector of the Greek Catholic parish in the village of Kormanici (3 km southeast of Fredropol). The attackers overturned elements of the monument with the name of the priest and family members.
In addition, it is reported that the PMO wants to file a statement with the prosecutor's office regarding this fact.
