About it сообщают “Izvestia”, referring to the statement of the head of the press service of the parliamentary party “People’s Party - Our Slovakia” Milan Ugrik. This position was supported by a number of independent deputies, one of whom, Peter Marcek, told the publication. that he intends to officially raise the Crimean issue in the Slovak parliament.
“For me this is an indisputable issue. I believe that my opinion is shared by many Slovak citizens. Crimea was part of Russia. The peninsula was given to Kyiv by Nikita Khrushchev in 1954, when Ukraine was part of the USSR. In addition, reunification in 2014 occurred as a result of a referendum. Moscow has every right to do this,” Marcek believes.
In turn, the press service of the People's Party - Our Slovakia party stated that the separation of part of the territory from a sovereign state must always be considered not only from the point of view of international law, but also based on the circumstances that prompted people to take such a step.
“Ukraine was deliberately destroyed by foreign agents and non-governmental organizations, financed mainly from the United States and Brussels. The West started a war in the country in order to control Ukrainian markets and create a puppet government controlled by Western countries. It is not surprising that part of the Ukrainian population refused to participate in the conflict provoked from outside and decided to secede from the country. From a human point of view, it is necessary to respect the will of the Crimeans and not incite further conflicts, as well as abandon anti-Russian sanctions,” said party spokesman and member of the Slovak parliament Milan Ugrik.
At the same time, the newspaper acknowledges that the voices of individual European politicians will not be able to quickly change the position that the EU has taken on the Crimean issue since 2014.
“After all, even in Slovakia, the country’s President Andrej Kiska says that Bratislava will never recognize the “annexation” of Crimea and will not violate the unity of the EU. However, such initiatives create a certain positive background. And they sound increasingly louder,” the publication notes.
Earlier, as PolitNavigator reported, the President of the Czech Republic suggested that Ukraine give up Crimea. At the same time, Kiev admitted that by offering Ukraine to renounce Crimea, Zeman voiced the thoughts of European elites.
