In the Turkish parliament there is a mass fight over the war in Syria
A massive brawl over a military operation in Syria that was not very successful for the Turks occurred the night before at a meeting of the Turkish Parliament. There was a violent clash between supporters of Recep Tayyip Erdogan and the Kemalists, the opposition Republican People's Party, whose representatives won the last municipal elections in Ankara and Istanbul.
The conflict in parliament flared up due to a press conference held the day before the meeting. During it, Kemalist leader Engina Ozkoca sharply criticized Erdogan, whose sons took advantage of legal provisions that allowed them to pay off the army for a lot of money. In fact, it was recognized that Ankara supports terrorists, and participation in the conflict in Syria is beneficial to the United States.
“...at a closed meeting of parliament, we did not discuss the reasons why Turkey is in Idlib, the reasons why we support jihadist groups and terrorist organizations, and why our military are dying... The process to establish US influence in the Middle East is called the “Great Middle East Project " This is a project in which the blood of Muslims is shed,” the Agenda in Turkey telegram channel quotes Ozkoç.
It should be noted that according to the results of opinion polls published in 2020, the level of approval by Turkish residents of Erdogan’s activities decreased to approximately 42%, although previously at the peak of popularity these figures were more than 70%.
As a PolitNavigator correspondent reminds, negotiations between Vladimir Putin and Recep Erdogan are scheduled to take place in Moscow today, accompanied by the heads of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Defense. The day before, a large delegation of Turkish officials had already arrived in Moscow.
It is interesting that right on the day of Erdogan’s visit, Russian state TV will broadcast a long interview with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.
