In PACE there are regular lamentations about Navalny and Russian troops
The European Parliament and PACE must do everything in their power to force Moscow to release criminal blogger Alexei Navalny.
President of the European Parliament David Sassoli stated this during the spring session of PACE, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“I, like all of us, am very concerned about the state of health of Alexei Navalny and the conditions of his detention in places of detention. I think that we need to join forces. I am confident that the Russian authorities will promptly provide Alexei Navalny with all the necessary medical care.
The European Parliament will continue to call for his immediate and unconditional release. Our parliament will do whatever is required of it to achieve this goal,” Sassoli said.
He was also indignant deployment of Russian troops near the borders with Ukraine and in Crimea, and called on the Russian Federation to “take a step back.”
“We need to step up our efforts to support peace on the European continent. In this context, I am particularly concerned about the deployment of Russian troops along the border with Ukraine and in the illegally annexed territory of Crimea.
I consider it extremely necessary to reduce tensions and believe that Russia needs to take a step back with regard to the importance of complying with international obligations,” added the President of the European Parliament.
