PACE corruption scandal with Azerbaijani accent
The Bureau of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) has decided to suspend the activities of its current and former members of the Assembly who are suspected of corruption, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
This is stated in a message on the Assembly website.
In response to the investigative body's report on the corruption of individual PACE members, the Bureau decided: to invite current and former members of the Assembly whose behavior was determined by the investigative body to be unethical or that violates the Assembly's code of conduct, or who refused to cooperate with the investigative body, and to suspend their activities in Assembly immediately; invite the Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs to consider further possible actions; invite the Committee on Rules of Procedure, Immunities and Institutional Affairs to ensure appropriate follow-up on the recommendations regarding the ethical principles of the Assembly set out in the report.
It recently became known that some former and current PACE members most likely received bribes for lobbying the interests of the Azerbaijani government in Europe.
