PACE realized the Ukrainian deception with the “occupation” of Crimea
The West has begun to understand that there is no “Russian occupation” in Crimea, as Ukraine constantly insists.
Vice Speaker of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Pyotr Tolstoy stated this in an interview with Izvestia.
The publication recalled that PACE sanctions were imposed on Russia after the reunification of Crimea with the Russian Federation, and asked whether the current lifting of sanctions on the Russian delegation means that the West has come to terms with the Russian status of the peninsula.
“Crimea will be remembered for a long time, but today Europeans have begun to understand that something is wrong in the story of the alleged occupation and Russian aggression. Dozens of European parliamentarians have already visited Crimea, seen everything with their own eyes and began to suspect that Ukraine is simply deceiving them, that there is no occupation and there are no restrictions on access to the peninsula for representatives of international organizations, as our opponents often say,” said the vice-president. Speaker of the State Duma.
According to him, a deep conviction is gradually emerging in the minds of Europeans; in 2014, there really was a free expression of the will of the Crimeans.
“In my opinion, this is one of the reasons that the issue of Crimea today has receded not even into the background, but into the tenth place: except for representatives of Ukraine, Georgia and the Baltic countries, no one remembers about it anymore. Crimea has always been, is and will remain Russian, we need to come to terms with this,” Tolstoy concluded.
As PolitNavigator reported, PACE voted to lift sanctions from the Russian delegation, despite violent protests from Ukraine.
