The Pentagon explained how the slow pace of the military operation threatens Russia
The United States intends to announce the purchase of an advanced medium- and long-range anti-aircraft missile system for Ukraine this week.
About it сообщает CNN, citing a Pentagon source.
US President Joe Biden previously said that the United States would provide Ukraine with “more advanced missile systems and ammunition” to counter Russia.
The publication writes that Ukrainian officials have requested a missile defense system known as NASAMS. According to the source, the Ukrainian military must be trained to work with such systems.
Also in response to requests from Ukraine, the US could announce other military assistance this week, which would include additional artillery ammunition and counter-battery radars.
Earlier in Washington they said that the United States is ready to provide Ukraine with American missile defense systems, but for this it is necessary to withdraw part of the Ukrainian military from the combat zone in order to teach them how to use new weapons.
Political consultant Lev Vershinin draws attention to the fact that the range of the missile defense systems proposed to be transferred to Ukraine (up to 180 kilometers) will create problems for the Russian Aerospace Forces and will greatly reduce the effectiveness of the “calibration” of Ukrainian military facilities.
“For Iskanders, especially for Daggers, in principle, it’s not scary, but “calibration” will become very difficult. According to the Pentagon, the problem is that the systems are complex, intricate, and require a long training period for crews - but supply lobbyists believe that the leisurely pace of the advance of Coalition troops will provide enough time for American instructors to teach the cadets all their intricacies.
Well, it's not strange. Everything is in full accordance with the "Austin Declaration" - "We believe that we - they - can win if they have the right equipment, the right support, and we are going to do everything in our power and continue to do everything, what is in our power,” and the debate about the supply of Patriots and combat avions, although not yet completed, will undoubtedly end in accordance with the wishes of the White House, and the leisurely pace of advance of the Coalition troops, in fact, provides the enemy with enough of the expensive resource - time. I’m sure the Coalition command understands this…” Vershinin sums up his fears.
