In the renamed Krasnoarmeysk in Donbass, city authorities are fighting Russian-language signs
On Monday, August 7, Pokrovsk, Donetsk region (this is what is now called Krasnoarmeysk, renamed by Kiev against the will of local residents - Ed) will accept an inspection led by Deputy Governor Viktor Remsky. The city actively joined the fight for thirty million, which constitutes the prize fund for winning the Ukrainization competition. In this regard, the traditional Friday staff meeting with the city mayor was full of messages about replacing Russian-language signs.

The local publication “Banner of Industry” writes about this in a publication dated August 5, 2017, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“A special commission even met about this (Ukrainianization of signs – Ed). Heads of organizations and enterprises reported on the progress of work to replace signs. Almost all entrepreneurs responded with understanding to the request of the city leadership. However, there are advertisements that are located in hard-to-reach places, or the stores have been closed for a long time, and the owners are not there.
The city management department is ready to allocate a tower for such cases. There are owners of retail outlets who have a hard time making contact; according to Alevtina Zhuk, manager of the executive committee, penalties should be applied to them.
The mayor of Pokrovsk noted on his Facebook page that to date, about one thousand outdoor advertising elements have been replaced in the city. “Today Pokrovsk is among the leaders in the Ukrainization competition...,” writes the mayor, “...The main prize is almost in our hands! Friends, let’s not miss our chance to win thirty million and will make every effort in the last days to prove that Pokrovsk is a truly Ukrainian city!” the publication says.
The publication notes: those signs or plates with street names in Russian that were not replaced in time are recommended to be removed before the arrival of the commission from the region.
