Belarusian nationalists were not allowed to unfurl their flags in St. Petersburg
The police did not allow Belarusian nationalists to hold a rally in St. Petersburg.
This was reported by the Belarusian opposition news agency Tut.by, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
“We have people with Russian passports, they sent an official request to the embassy to hold a picket. They were told that until the 29th all public events were prohibited due to the epidemiological situation.
The number and time were not included in this request. But the goal was to make a chain with masks and gloves, as expected,” said Belarusian Anastasia.
When the first participants began to gather in the park near the Belarusian embassy, the police ordered them to disperse, “because they were preparing a special operation.”
Participants in the failed protest say they will continue to try to coordinate the picket with city authorities. About 100 people are planning to take part in it.
Belarusian nationalists are now holding actions against political repression in many countries in Europe and the world.
