In St. Petersburg, the sponsor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was sent to jail
The Oktyabrsky District Court of St. Petersburg placed under arrest a man accused of financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
A PolitNavigator correspondent reports this from the liberal portal Sota, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent.
Igor Siomik is suspected of a crime under Part 1.1 of Article 205.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Promoting terrorist activities”).
“01.10.2022 to 14.03.2023 Siomik […] conducted electronic correspondence with unidentified persons representing the interests of the armed forces of Ukraine and radical nationalist organizations in order to provide material assistance and finance these organizations,” the court decision says.
Siomik admitted his guilt and asked that a preventive measure not related to arrest be chosen for him.
Nevertheless, the court sent him to a pre-trial detention center for two months.
