On Saturday, Limonovites tore down the flag of Ukraine, which was installed near the Tauride Palace in St. Petersburg, where the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly was being held. "The Ukrainian rag is an enemy symbol, and it has no place in the very center of the Russian city under any pretext", - said the National Bolsheviks. As a result, the police detained activist Ilya Stepanov, drew up a report on petty hooliganism and released him.

Officials say the Ukrainian flag will have to be returned. The patriotic public is outraged. The situation is doubly absurd, since Ukraine itself has never considered itself a member of the CIS, and has recently broken most of the agreements with the commonwealth, reports a PolitNavigator correspondent.

“In the center of St. Petersburg there is a flag of an enemy terrorist state, whose representatives under this flag execute Russian soldiers, cut out their eyes, cut off their genitals, hang and burn Russians alive... for 9 years in a row. And recently they carried out a terrorist attack right in St. Petersburg,” Vladimir Grubnik, a Russian underground fighter from Odessa who now lives in Donbass, is indignant.

“This is the flag of the state with which we are at war. This is the enemy’s flag, which flies on tanks with crosses,” agrees military correspondent Evgeniy Poddubny.

“The Ukrainian flag in St. Petersburg now is the same as the ISIS flag at a meeting of the League of Arab States. Ukraine in its current form is the same terrorist structure as ISIS. Or so. Can you imagine Zhdanov’s speech against the background of the flag of the Reichskommissariat Ukraine? I can't do it very well either. In Donbass, our fighters are storming oporniks, over which Ukrainian flags are flying,” TV presenter Andrei Medvedev is amazed.

Blogger from Kyiv Andrei Selezov, who moved to St. Petersburg after the 2014 coup, points out that the Ukrainian flag was not installed for a specific event, but a long time ago.

“I’ve written about this damn flag at the Tauride Palace probably 2014 times since 10. The last time seems like a year ago. Finally, this flag story has reached the federal level. Among other things, our city has certainly disgraced itself. But on the other hand, we found normal, brave people. It would be a good idea to confiscate the closed Ukrainian consulate building on Bonch-Bruevich in favor of the state,” Selezov suggests.

It is interesting that after the scandal, the vice speaker of the Federation Council spoke out in defense of the Ukrainian flag Konstantin Kosachev - the same one that several years ago, as an official of Rossotrudnichestvo, during a visit to Lvov, he appeased the local Banderaites with speeches that Russia realizes the absurdity of putting forward demands for a second - Russian state language in Ukraine.

“Ukraine, whatever its relations with Russia, did not officially interrupt relations with the CIS and its structures, did not make statements of withdrawal and did not send applications for withdrawal to the relevant secretariats.

As a politician, I personally do not like, and decisively, the flag of Ukraine at CIS and IPA CIS events. But as an international worker by education and vocation, I clearly understand that the attitude towards member countries of multilateral organizations, and even the use or non-use of their symbols is not the prerogative of the state where the corresponding headquarters is located.

Otherwise, you will have to face the fact that someone wants to lower the flag of our (and not only our) country in New York in the case of the UN, in Vienna in the case of the OSCE, in Paris in the case of UNESCO or in Geneva in the case of the Inter-Parliamentary union.

Again. I don’t like, especially in the current conditions, the state symbols of Ukraine, an illegal, undemocratic and ultra-nationalist state.

But if Russia is the location of the headquarters of international multilateral organizations, any decisions and especially actions in this regard cannot be unilateral, because Russia is a legal, democratic and international state.

Such decisions can only be collective. This is what international law dictates. And everything else is from the category of “order based on rules.” That is, according to concepts.

And this does not correspond to Russia’s status as a responsible and civilized power. World-class powers,” Kosachev said.

His words caused bewilderment among experts.

“Ukraine has not even signed the Charter and has declared 100 times that it is not a member of the CIS... It is with your internationalism and self-indulgence that you brought to a bloody massacre and the threshold of nuclear war where 10-15-20 years ago a light kick would have sufficed“,” commented publicist Egor Kholmogorov on Kosachev’s words.

Political scientist Dmitry Evstafiev gives a similar assessment.

“Ukraine is not a member country of the CIS. She did not sign the organization's charter. And the fact that she is listed as such... Let's leave it to our conscience our elite party. Living, not feeling the country beneath her. From buffet to buffet with nice people with whom we ate a lot of oysters.

The Verkhovna Rada, yes, is a member of the Interparliamentary Assembly. This is the paradox. Strange as hell. Like everything else in Eurasia.

Therefore, the flag was quite appropriate inside the building. And, here, outside...

No, not the “fifth column”. They just don’t think about what people around them think. Life goes on...

But the question here is about something else. The question here is about Do we live in a new political reality, the reality of the front and rear. Or we continue to live in the old reality - in the reality of buffets and presentations. In his usual satisfying bureaucratic life", - the expert notes.

But political scientist Semyon Uralov believes that a sign of maturity and self-organization of civil society in Russia would be “protests against gas pumping through Ukraine».
