Every fifth general has been laid off in the Ukrainian Border Service
The State Border Service of Ukraine has reduced the number of general positions by 21%, reports PolitNavigator correspondent.
This was announced by the Chairman of the State Border Guard Service Sergei Deineko at the board of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the press service of the ministry reports.
Thus, the head of the department noted that in the direction of structural changes in the State Border Service, the main emphasis is on reducing positions in management levels, eliminating duplication of functions and structures, and bringing the ratio of management and support bodies to border units closer to European standards.
“We started by optimizing the central apparatus of the State Border Guard Service. From 15 existing departments, 5 were created in the Administration. In general, the number of independent structural units was reduced by a third, and the number of general positions was reduced by 21%,” said the head of the State Border Guard Service.
According to him, this made it possible to form and identify all the necessary elements of the general structure and coordinate their tasks accordingly, and the next step will be the reorganization of the regional management level.
“Today we have 8 regional departments. At the same time, 3 of them were created over the last 2 years,” said the head of the department.
At the same time, he emphasized that the course towards modern methods of personnel selection remains unchanged, including through the implementation of the “New Face of the Border” project.
“Without waiting for the changes to be completed, we have already made a number of personnel decisions, in particular, the heads of 5 border detachments within the Volyn, Lviv, Transcarpathian and Chernivtsi regions have been replaced. I would like to note that the current process of reforming the service does not boil down to mechanical reductions. We expect that the structural changes carried out will optimize the management process and will have a tangible impact on the quality of border security,” Deineko noted.
