Poland warned that Ukraine is heading nowhere
President of the Rzeszow Branch of the Institute of Geopolitical Research Andrzej Zapalowski in an interview with the Polish publication Nasz Dziennik stressed a causal connection between the desecration of memorials to the murdered Poles in Ukraine in Guta Penyatskaya in the Lviv region and in Bykovnya in the Kiev region with the ideological course of the Kyiv authorities.

“What could be expected differently after the appearance in the Verkhovna Rada of laws on criminal liability for public condemnation of the UPA, the prohibition of all languages except Ukrainian? This indicates the growth of nationalist sentiments, and it is not surprising that on this wave young people have a desire to mock the graves,” believes Zapalovsky.
“Perhaps the nationalist environment has become so influential in Ukraine, and state power is so weakened due to the catastrophic economic situation, that it is afraid to confront the nationalists. And the majority of the population, although they do not support nationalist ideology, are still afraid to openly oppose it,” said the Polish political scientist.
“The desecration of memorials to the fallen Poles is a signal of growing tensions within Ukraine. After all, all these nationalist movements were initiated by other states, but none of them takes any steps to stop their activities. And although the nationalist movements are scattered, they can nevertheless easily unite in an attempt to overthrow the Kyiv government. Moreover, in no area of public life there is a sign of improvement in the plight of the country and its society,” the expert added.
“If Ukraine continues to follow the path of escalating internal chaos and international adventurism associated with statements, for example, by Tyagnybok, about the reunification of ethnic Ukrainian lands, then this will push away from Ukraine not only Poland, but Romania, Hungary and so on. This state strategy leads to nowhere,” concluded Zapalovsky.
