The level of hatred towards Ukrainians continues to grow in Poland

If Poland passes a law banning the propaganda of Bandera’s ideas, this will make Polish society even more embittered towards the citizens of Ukraine.

This was stated by Polish journalist Marcin Kowalczyk, who was quoted by the Kiev online newspaper "A country".

“Ukrainian migrant workers are increasingly complaining about persecution and beatings in Poland. The law against “Banderism” could further turn part of Polish society against Ukrainians. Especially against the background of growing nationalist sentiments in both countries,” the journalist believes.

In turn, the ex-mayor of the city of Rava-Russkaya in the Lviv region, director of the Center for Baltic-Black Sea Studies Irina Vereshchuk, noted that the law on Banderaism is one of Poland’s options for responding to the Ukrainian position of glorifying Bandera.

“All political circles in Poland, without exception, to one degree or another condemn Ukraine’s policy in this direction. One cannot flatter oneself with the hope that this issue is more likely intended for the domestic electorate,” the expert admits.

According to her, sooner or later such a law may be adopted, which will put Ukrainians living in Poland at risk.

“The ruling Law and Justice party understands that nationalist rhetoric will help them win the next elections. Meanwhile, the level of aggression and intolerance towards Ukrainians is constantly growing, and it is difficult to predict what this might lead to,” warns Vereshchuk.
