The publication Kresy writes: “The monument was erected at the local cemetery, thanks to the money of the unknown Greek Catholic association “Friends of the Wierzbicka Land.” It had a trident and an inscription in Ukrainian: “In the struggle for the freedom of Ukraine in the village of Vezhbitsa, more than 100 people from various movements of the UPA died. Eternal memory to them." Below are the names of the dead.
In the spring, someone painted “Death of the UPA” and a sign of the Polish resistance from World War II on it. Now the monument is completely destroyed.”
Let us recall that recently a group of Poles, relatives of those killed during the “Volyn massacre” of 1943, spoke out against the canonization of Uniate Metropolitan Andrei Sheptytsky, accusing him of silent complicity in genocide Poles. Members of the OUN-UPA Bandera not only committed mass murders of Poles on the territory of present-day Ukraine, but also took part in the activities of the Sonder Commands in the territory of present-day Poland, and were guards in concentration camps.
