In Poland, a consensus has emerged in assessing the crimes of the UPA
Ethnic cleansing committed by UPA detachments in Western Ukraine has long been a proven fact for historians in Poland; there is a consensus in the Polish public regarding the interpretation of the actions of Bandera’s supporters.
For a long time, Ukraine simply ignored Warsaw’s position; the decision of the Polish Sejm to recognize the Volnysk massacre as genocide is now completely incorrectly presented in Ukraine as a surprise.
Lukasz Adamski, deputy director of the Center for Polish-Russian Dialogue and Harmony, stated this in Kyiv at a debate on Ukrainian-Polish relations.

“Why was there such a wave of emotions? Why is the image of Poland that I see in the Ukrainian media so radically different from what I myself, as a Polish citizen, see in Poland?
Why is there no understanding in Ukrainian public thought that the Polish Sejm previously adopted resolutions recognizing the Holodomor as genocide, the massacre of Armenians as genocide, recognizing the Polish NKVD operation on the territory of Ukraine in 1937-1938 as genocide and the little-known operation to exterminate Kurds, Yezidis and Christians in Iraq genocide?
The fact that the Polish Sejm will sooner or later recognize the anti-Polish action of the UPA as ethnic cleansing carried out by UPA detachments is already a scientific consensus in Poland. And of course, the consensus of public opinion.
The previous government, realizing that for various reasons Ukrainian society was not ready to discuss this crime, but feeling pressure, decided to call it a legal euphemism - “a crime with signs of genocide.” It could have been foreseen that when Law and Justice came to power, there would be the following resolution.
And why is (this) such a surprise for Ukrainian social thought? Probably because there are not enough Polish political experts in Ukraine. Even here, at this meeting, I expected that there would be someone from Ukrainian diplomacy, but there was no one,” the expert said.
