The publication writes: “Thousands of Polish peasants staged demonstrations in Warsaw and several regions of Poland on Thursday in favor of increasing agricultural subsidies. They accused the government of refusing to support farmers who are facing financial difficulties due to the Russian ban on agricultural imports.”
After discussions at the Ministry of Agriculture, the representative of the General Confederation of Trade Unions, Slawomir Izdebski, announced progress on the issue of partial compensation for pork producers, while other demands of farmers remain unsatisfied.
That's why about 150 farmers set up a tent city in front of the Cabinet of Ministers last night. They want to stay until their demands are met.
The Warsaw City Council said the protesters were denied permission to build a tent city. At the same time, Minister of Agriculture Marek Sawicki told the TVP.Info portal that he is against the eviction of the protest tent camp with the help of the police.
Trade unions promised to continue the protests, and the Solidarity trade union joined them. Let us recall that as a result of the actions of the Russian side, France joined the sanctions against Polish pork in exchange for allowing supplies to Russia.
