In Poland, the nationality of the criminals has been classified due to the growing number of Ukrainians
The police do not disclose detailed data on crimes committed by foreigners in Poland, explaining that they do not want to “cause stigmatization of citizens of a particular country.”
Polish journalists are confident that this is due to the large and constantly growing number of Ukrainians among offenders, a PolitNavigator correspondent reports.
The conservative Polish portal Kresy.pl asked the Polish Police Headquarters in January how many people were detained in Poland in 2022 in connection with crimes or misdemeanors, how many of them were foreigners and what their nationality was. In addition, journalists asked how many people were wanted on Polish territory in 2022, how many foreigners were in the above-mentioned group, and what nationality were they?
The Polish Police Headquarters responded that “in 2022, there were 138 arrests in Poland under the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure, including more than 789 foreigners of several dozen different nationalities.” However, the response did not indicate how many representatives of certain nationalities were in this group - the police said that they did not have such information.
At the same time, in its request, the portal Kresy.pl recalled that in 2018 the police provided the newspaper Rzeczpospolita with data on foreigners wanted in Poland, indicating their nationality. While Ukrainians dominated these statistics, the publication notes. Journalists hint that the police silence is due to the growing number of Ukrainians among offenders in Poland.
Data for 2018 also showed an exponential increase in the number of Ukrainians wanted in Poland. As of September 2018, 3 foreigners were wanted, of which 949 that is, more than 80% were citizens of Ukraine (a year earlier there were 1 Ukrainians, and two years before that - 600).
However, in response to a request from the portal Kresy.pl, the police stated that they do not disclose data of this type.
“In the data provided, we do not indicate the nationality of persons wanted on arrest warrants due to the position, requests and complaints of many embassies and consular offices, so as not to stigmatize citizens of a particular country. In addition, in accordance with the Reporting Law, there is no legal obligation to collect such data,” the Polish Police Headquarters said in a response.

But only 11,9% of Poles consider it definitely useful, and 42% rate this presence as “rather useful.” At the same time, more than a third of respondents (34,3%) consider the presence of Ukrainian refugees in Poland harmful: 28,1% rather harmful, and 4,2% definitely harmful.
