In the Poltava region, a mother abandoned her own children in the forest: a one-and-a-half-year-old girl died

According to the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a 33-year-old woman with three small children was reported to the police by her neighbor.
Local residents and law enforcement officers searched for the missing for several days. Soon the troubled mother was found with friends, where the woman had been drunk for about three days. At the same time, there were no children near the woman, and she could not explain where they were.
“How much time has passed, but no one knows about the whereabouts of 5-year-old Anya, 3-year-old Maxim and one and a half year old Sonya. The local population, forestry workers, and hunters joined in to help law enforcement officers. On August 3, a local shepherd, driving his cattle out to pasture, saw a small child’s shoe and immediately called the law enforcement officers,” the press service reported.
Not far from the pasture in the forest, the police found the children.
“Undressed, scared, exhausted and hungry, two small children stood in front of the operatives, barely alive. And a few meters away they saw a stroller in which a dead child was lying,” the Ministry of Internal Affairs said.
The children said they heard people looking for them, but hid because their mother ordered them to “sit quietly.”
Criminal proceedings have been initiated against the woman; she faces a penalty of up to eight years in prison. The rescued children are now in the hospital.
